    Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Chemical & Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET), Melaka is a higher educational institution that specializes in chemical-based engineering technology education. It is fully owned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), located in Taboh Naning Vendor City, Alor Gajah, Melaka, approximately 35km away from Melaka town which was declared a “Historical City” by UNESCO on 7th July 2008. UniKL MICETwas established in 2002 and is grouped under Universiti Kuala Lumpur, under the management of Universiti Teknikal MARA Sdn Bhd. UniKL MICET is the pioneer institute in providing hands-on chemical-based technology education in Malaysia. The Chemical and Bioengineering Technology programmes offered by UniKL MICET made it one of the earliest technical universities in this country. An accomplishment of this university is its up-to-date and modern equipment used in the chemical technology field. It is also one of the private universities ranked in the Tier 5 (Excellent) category in SETARA 2009 & SETARA 2012 certified by MQA.

    Being Malaysia’s first private technical University, UniKL MICET is set up with complete and up-to-date equipment in the field of Chemical Engineering Technology. It is equipped with 43 labs; among them are Chemical Analysis Lab, Basic Chemical Lab, Chemical Technology Lab, Preparation Lab, Polymer Test and Assessment Lab, Latex Processing Lab, Food Analysis and Processing Lab, Computer Labs, Pilot Plant and Water Treatment Lab with hands-on learning.  Campus facilities available to students include the hostel, sport complex, Outdoor sports, Gymnasium, Surau, Student Café, resource Centre, student recreational areas, Internet wi-fi connection, as well as public transportation (MARA Liner).

    Certified Halal Scientific Executives Programme

    This is collaborating programme between UniKL MICET and HDC with associated input from Biotech corp. It consists of two month modules: classroom training and laboratory practices as well as industrial internship. As many as 3000 Halal executives are required to fill up various food industries and related areas in order to explicitly execute the halal products chains. The objectives is to produce competent and certified Halal Executives equipped with scientific knowledge and technological advances to serve the dynamic industrial sectors and regulatory and other government bodies relevant to Halal executives.

The manufacturing, testing and characterization, synthesis process of polymer from petroleum and natural resources were outlined and sustainability of the polymer industry from the aspect of environment.

  • 9. What is Process?

    The programme focuses on the design, operation and maintenance of chemical and material manufacturing processes. Apart from the basic chemical engineering knowledge in mass and heat transfers, unit operations, fluid mechanics and process control, students will be specialized in petrochemical and natural gas processing, oleo chemical and other industrial process. Students will experience in the basic laboratories to the pilot plant. They will be given the opportunities to manufacture their own soap and margarine for example, refine palm oil and design own experiment.

    UniKL MICET will assist the undergraduates secure education loans from either Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) or the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).  For Bumiputra students who are qualified for a full MARA study loan, MARA will provide tuition fees with living allowance per month during the period study for both Diploma & Degree students. The MARA convertible loan is an interest-free loan, and students have the opportunity to gain a reduction and exemption of loan repayment (according to conditions set by MARA) should they excel in their studies.
