Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Bioprocess) with Honours

Sarjana Muda Teknologi Kejuruteraan Kimia (Bioproses) dengan Kepujian

Chemical engineers with a focus in bioprocess work at the forefront of biological and engineering sciences through the conversion of biological materials into other forms needed by mankind. Application areas commonly associated with bioprocess engineering include:

  • Biopharmaceuticals (therapeutic proteins, polysaccharides, vaccines, and diagnostics)
  • Specialty products and industrial chemicals (antibiotics, value-added food and agricultural products, and fuels, chemicals, and fibre from renewable resources)
  • Environmental-management aids. (products and services to control or remediate toxic wastes)

Like other engineering disciplines, bioprocess engineers are trained in the application of engineering sciences and problem-solving techniques. What separate them from the others is the integration of living materials such as bacteria, virus, fungi, animal, and plant and the engineering knowledge. With the rapid growth of biologically based technologies, bioprocess engineers are uniquely qualified to solve the problems of today and tomorrow. The demand for bioprocess engineers continues to grow. They provide a bridge between the research lab and the economic, large-scale implementation of biotechnologies and engineering field.
