PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
- A chemical engineering technology programme that makes use of microbial, animal, plant cells and components of cells such as enzymes to manufacture new products and destroy harmful wastes.
- It applies the theories and principles of engineering and science for the manufacturing of bioproducts.
- It produces an enormous range of products, from relatively cheap materials such as industrial alcohol and organic solvents, to expensive specialty chemicals such as antibiotics, therapeutic proteins and vaccines.

CAREER PATH
This is rapidly increasing demand for engineering graduates with an appreaciation and knowledge of the biological sciences. They help to create new technology for food and agricultural systems by improving processes, materials and products. The main areas are machinery and equiptment, soil and water, structures, food storage, and food processing. For example the manufacture of many pharmaceutical products, healthcare products, medicine, vaccines, and new materials rely upon the application of biology to industrial processes.
DURATION OF STUDY
4 years
