PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

The program is offered to satisfy the chemical engineering sector especially polymer related industries demand for a skilled workforce to meeting with the nation’s requirement. It is known that the biggest majority of Malaysia’s trade is dependant on the petroleum industry (polyolefin and its by-products, the automotive industry, aerospace and others) as well as the reliance on renewable resources such as the rubber and bio-based polymer industry as obvious major industrial sector, is at rise. This need can also be seen from the high demand for engineering technologists in operation and maintenance of polymer related plants. Therefore, the curriculum provided is more focused in giving technical knowledge and skills needed by the relevant industries.

The polymer industry especially upstream and downstream processing is one of the largest industries in Malaysia accounting for a wide range of products. While rubber industry which was said to be a sunset industry in the last 10 years shows tremendous demand from consumers. The current scenario prompted the need for highly skilled graduates in the related engineering field have seen an increasing trend.

Our goal is not only to promote our products (graduates) for Malaysian market, but also to satisfy the ever increasing demand of the world’s chemical engineering and polymer industry. Therefore, the programme is offered in English. Research and development is also emphasised to ensure that our graduates are the best in the mentioned area. Thus, the Programme offered would equip graduates with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge as well as other skills in the polymer engineering field such as communication and entrepreneurial skills in meeting with the social and national as well as world development requirement.
This programme has been accreditated by Malaysia Quality Assurance (MQA).

The Sydney Accord is an international mutual recognition agreement for qualifications in the fields of engineering technology degree programmes. It is an agreement between the bodies responsible for accrediting engineering technologist qualification programs in each of the signatory countries. It recognizes the substantial equivalency of programs accredited by those bodies, and recommends that graduates of accredited programs in any of the signatory countries be recognized by the other countries as having met the academic requirements for entry to the practice of engineering technologist.

Malaysian University Examination Test (MUET) : Band 2

AND

A Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent, with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in 3 subjects including Mathematics and one science subject and A Pass in (SPM)or its equivalents and a pass in English

A Pass in Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 in relevant fields from UniKL or from other recognized higher learning institutions by Malaysian Government

Pass in UniKL Foundation in Science and Technology or its equivalents from UniKL or other recognized higher learning institutions by Malaysian Government with a minimum CGPA of 2.0; OR Pass in Matriculation in relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 2.0
