PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

UniKL MICET specialises in chemical engineering where polymer sciences, technology and engineering is an integral part of the system. It has well equipped laboratories as well as qualified teaching staffs in preparing the polymer engineering technologists for the operation and maintenance of polymer related plants. Therefore, the curriculum provided is more focused in giving technical knowledge and skills needed by the relevant industries such as petroleum industry (polyolefin and its by-products), automotive industry, aerospace and others as well as the reliance on renewable resources such as the rubber and green polymer industry. The programme offered also equip graduates with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge as well as other skills such as communication and entrepreneurial skills in meeting with the social and national development requirement.

Our goal is not only to promote our products (graduates) for Malaysian market, but also to satisfy the ever increasing demand of the world’s chemical engineering and polymer industry. Therefore, the programme is offered in English. Research and development is also emphasised to ensure that our graduates are the best in the mentioned area.This programme has been accreditated by Malaysia Quality Assurance (MQA).

The programme aims, objectives and learning outcomes are in line with the Dublin accord and the MQF learning domains incorporating issues of leadership, social responsibility, scholarship, community involvement, ethical values and professionalism. Dublin accord is an international mutual recognition agreement for qualifications in the fields of engineering technician qualification. Student activities during learning processes such as mini-projects, team and individual work, peer evaluation, attending/engaging in seminars, conferences, workshops and students’ club activities play a vital role to address the aforementioned issues adequately and effectively.

The Diploma of Engineering Technology in Polymer graduates, two to five years into their careers:

i.    Are knowledgeable, competent, and innovative, which will contribute towards the human capital in the chemical engineering technology related industry.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
LOCAL STUDENTS

A pass in SPM/SPMV with at least five (5) credits in the following subjects:

  1. Bahasa Melayu,

  2. Mathematics,

  3. One Science or Technical Subjects

  4. and two other subjects;

  5. and at least pass in English.

OR

Possess a Certificate from IKM/ILP recognized by the Senate or other certificates recognized by the Senate in relevant fields with a CGPA of 2.0 and above; and at least a pass in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Minimum qualification : "O" Level or equivalent with at leat gred C in 5 subjects 

AND

Fullfill UniKL's minimum english requirement

All international students will have to take an English Placement Test (EPT) upon arrival at Universiti Kuala Lumpur unless students have taken IELTS and TOEFL.
