FOODI Erasmus Programme “Food processing and Innovation-FOODI” in the making

FOODI programme aims to create a totally new MSc programme incorporating for the first time innovation management and food processing curricula. The project is approved in the European Framework of Erasmus+ / Capacity building in higher education and currently in the syllabus development stage. FOODI Programme includes both technical and business aspects.

The FOODI consortium is a strong and mature partnership of Asian and EU academic institutions, which consists of 16 organizations from 3 EU countries and 4 Asian countries. FOODI will have a significant long-term impact on students at a local, national and regional levels. The same goes for the accompanying internship programme that students will be expected to complete thus gaining valuable on the job working experience.

The long-term impact of FOODI on students could be exponential if the programme in its entirety or at least some of its components are adopted by other Higher Education Institutions nationally or in other countries in the region that face a similar gap in the subject area such as Bangladesh and Indonesia. Finally, the FOODI will impact the industry through the continuation, expansion and growth of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and the internship programme being delivered.

KL Kick-off meeting

The FOODI consortium met on 27th and 28th March 2019 for the Kick-off Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The University Technology Malaysia (UTM) hosted 14 partners from 3 EU Countries (Greece, Italy, Ireland) and 4 Asian Countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia).

Dublin study visit

The 1st FOODI study visit took place in the premises of University College of Dublin (UCD), Dublin in September, 2019. UCD hosted a group of visiting academics and administrators from 14 FOODI Consortium Partner HEIs based in Italy, Greece, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand together with ReadLab P.C. from Greece as technical support specialists focused on technology enhanced learning solutions.

Salerno study visit

The second of two scheduled study visits under the auspices of the ERASMUS+ FOODI Project took place at the Università degli studi di Salerno (UNISA) between Monday, November 11 and Friday, November 15, 2019. An interim period of seven weeks had elapsed between the study visit to University College Dublin (UCD) (September 16-20, 2019).
